May 7, 2016 · Not too bad but understandably more than the 1.4T and 1.7TDI. The engine itself is good for around town and motorway, although the 1.6 petrol could do with a 6th gear. The MPG is average, not fantastic around town, averaging 40mpg with 50/50 driving. The main reason we choose this spec and engine was for 2 reasons.
